Is wearing jeans and flip flops too causual for jury duty?

I attended one meeting of jury duty and a lot of people were dressed up like if they worked at the courthouse. I dressed like I always do in jeans, sandals and t shirt. I didn't see a reason to dress any differently as I was not the one up for trial or was I going to a job interview at the courthouse.
