PALM CENTRO DROPPED IN TOILET -- HELP REVIVE!?

I dropped my cellphone in the toilet trying to get my dog into the bathroom to wash her, i took it out asap and my screen was still on and clearly visible which made me think maybe it wasn't too badly messed up, however i still immediately took out my battery and sim card. I dried the phone and let it sit by my window for about 30 mins, then I put in a bowl of dry rice to absorb the water, my screen still has water behind it, HOW CAN I GET RID OF THE WATER? And how can i be positive it's DRY before i put the battery back in? And does the fact my screen was still on and visible and the phone didn't immediately shut off after being submerged in water a good sign? Please help! (PS. It's a palm centro , and i've heard they recover pretty good from water damage, true??)
