Read my boyfriend: A game or something to be worried about?

So we've been dating a few weeks and he's been really attentive/good for me throughout. We had (almost) last week... I wanted it, spent the night, but got worried about not being on birth control anymore and didn't let him inside (yet). Suddenly, he's been much quieter and I don't know what's going on. I told him I was worried and we're going to see each other later this week (specific day TBA). He had been really careful to make sure the mood was right and has let me come to him in a lot of small ways (e.g., touching & holding me near him, but not kissing me... waiting for me to make the first move). I'm not sure if he's holding me in suspense or has suddenly lost interest. I want to sleep with him *more* afterwards. I'm chicken about putting myself out there & solidifying the relationship; what if he has lost interest? I'm also not sure I want to settle in this region & he's pretty settled. What if I ask for something I might back out of later? Should I even push the question at all?
