What is the best way to decrease, or eliminate creosote build-up in my chimney using a woodstove?

I have a fireplace, and I have occaisionally used a "Creosote Sweeping Log" which I think may be the brand name. It is supposed to clean the chimney, although it says that it's not a complete replacement for regular cleaning (every 2 to 3 years maybe). I haven't started a fire in a while because I'm procrastinating on getting a chimney sweeping company to come out and clean it.
